Manitou Springs Establishes Web Site to Keep Public Informed

Manitou Springs, Colorado (January 20, 2004) As the saying goes, “it’s all in the details” and Manitou Springs is about to undergo a very detail oriented process to finalize plans for a major revitalization effort in their Historic Downtown. Plans call for widening sidewalks, an enhanced streetscape, pedestrian safety measures, burying utility lines and improvements to storm water drainage systems. The process will include participation from multiple governmental agencies, downtown business owners as well as residents.

To streamline the communication process the Manitou Springs Economic Development Council has set-up www.manitouspringsahead.com . All press announcements will be posted on the site. Progress reports will also be posted twice a week starting in mid-February. An opt-in database on the site will allow users to sign up for email updates. As the multi-year project progresses, additional information listing grant awards and individual legacy gifts will be incorporated too. Using the Internet for this type of communication tool is a very cost efficient method and it allows all interested people to log on 24/7 to find information and ask questions.
