FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Farm and Art Market Will Close With a Spicy Celebration

Manitou Springs, Colorado (September 7, 2005) Organizers of the Farm and Art Midweek Market in Manitou’s Soda Springs Park plan on holding a grand finale Sept. 21 beginning at 4 p.m. The final marketplace will be themed after Southern Colorado’s favorite veggie…the chili pepper! The closing event is entitled Hippie Dippy Chile Fiesta. Farm and Art Market regulars are encouraged to Chill Out at Chile Night one more time before the growing season ends.

Charlie’s Pit BBQ is organizing a food court that will offer traditional chile verde, vegetarian style green chile from the famous Adam’s Mountain Café recipe, pasolé fashioned after Grandma Lela’s favorite recipe at Manitou’s Spice of Life and Fiesta Fondue from the Mona Lisa. Local retailers donated chili pepper items ranging from sauces, jewelry and home décor to hats and t-shirts that will be sold in a silent auction in the Market’s Bristol Beer Garden.

Soda Springs Park will be alive with color and flavor on the closing night and will feature piñatas for participants young and young at heart. Tejano dance music will be provided by Gino and the Amazing Trio from Trinidad. Growers will have numerous chili varieties that are all locally grown. Roasters will sell fresh roasted peppers throughout the evening.

The Midweek Farm and Art Market is produced in partnership with the Colorado Farm and Art Market Cooperative. The evening schedule has been very well received, especially by working people in the region. In additional to all locally owned and produced food, unique art is offered for sale each week at Soda Springs Park in downtown Manitou Springs.

Sponsors of the market provided live music and outdoor cinema presentations. Sponsors of the event include Bristol Brewing, Nolte Engineering, the City of Manitou Springs, Chase Bank, Adams Mountain Café, the Poppy Seed, El Paso County, Garden of the Gods Trading Post and the Pikes Peak Cog Railway.

Event organizers have already reserved the park for the 2006 growing season. For additional information on Midweek Market go to www.80829.com and click on farmer’s market.
