Midweek Market Farmer’s Market Festival Improves Food Vendor Line Up for 2006
Manitou Springs (March 28, 2006) Advanced work for the second annual Midweek Market in downtown Manitou Springs is bringing in a much larger field of growers as well as specialty food items. To date, there are commitments from growers with farm-fresh produce from Pueblo and the Western Slope. There will be a wide variety of fresh fruit from the western slope including, peaches, cherries, plums, apricots and apples all summer long. Pueblo growers will bring fresh vegetables such as cabbage, beets, corn, peppers, squash, onions and green beans. Vigil Farms will have fresh roasted peppers starting the second week of August.
Below is a list of specialty food vendors that will complement the fresh produce items at the Farmer’s Market Festival:
Natures Finest Soaps and Healing Lotions Organic Eggs
Dawns Creations (Plants) Gourmet Popcorn
Jams/Jellies Honey
Dream Pastries Nuts/Dried Fruit
Torpedo Farms Pork Juice Plus Supplements
All Good Stuff for Dogs (fresh baked biscuits) Fresh Salsa
Fresh Cut Flowers/Seeds High Altitude Trees
Cheese Beef Jerky
Wild Rice Barley
Beans Dried Soup/Dip Mixes
In addition to the extensively improved food item selection, the food court will expand to include Santa Fe Chicken prepared on site with a smoker, a hot dog and hamburger cart, ice cream and Italian Ice.
Event organizers will also hold a drawing each week for $25 of free shopping at the market. The restaurants in Manitou Springs will host a concierge booth to provide general assistance to marketers and call for dining reservations. Each week will include themed entertainment.
“We are excited to see Manitou Springs produce an old fashion farmer’s market with a twist, stated Mayor Marcy Morrison. The evening format, with themed entertainment is just the right twist to complement our downtown revitalization efforts and encourage pedestrian activity in our commercial core,” concluded Morrison.
