Downtown Manitou Springs Welcomes New Music Store

The Poppy Seed Adds Books, Music and Films to Downtown Retail

Manitou Springs - One of Manitou Springs’ newest stores, The Poppy Seed, will be adding a large collection of music, books and independent films to its retail space in the coming weeks. The additional merchandise will make the store possibly one of the largest retailers of music in Manitou Springs.

Music selections will include Reggae, Classic Rock and Blues. The store will also carry books ranging in subjects from famous musical artists to politics. The Poppy Seed also carries retro T-shirts, hats, candles and other accessories.

Owner Dustin Ray said he has wanted to live in Manitou Springs since he was eight years old. His dream came true this year when he and his wife relocated their Missouri store to a newly constructed office space in downtown Manitou Springs, located at 123 Canon Ave. He said Manitou Springs, which has a number of quirky shops, would be the perfect place for his new store. Although the store was doing well in Missouri, he thinks the store will thrive in its new location.

Come see what’s new in Manitou! The mountain town of nearly 5,000 residents is home to dozens of new and unique restaurants, shops and art galleries. Manitou Springs earned the reputation as one of the most popular vacation destinations in the West as early as the 1880s. The town’s mineral springs originally attracted people seeking cures to their ailments, and it soon became a town of doctors and healers. Today, visitors enjoy the mountain vistas and a chance to take a walk off the beaten path.
